A beacon of a bygone era, the emblematic 16th century Citadel of Cascais is home to the new Historic Design Pousada. After painstaking restoration of the old fortress, this project embraces a new generation of Pousadas (Viseu, Estoi, Porto), bigger in size and with outstanding architectural heritage.

Aware of the vital importance of the Citadel as a touristic landmark, this luxurious new Pousada will add to the cultural value of Cascais, not only in terms of restoration of a historic building, as well as opening new markets to the region.

The striking new Pousada is the daring creation of architects Goncalo Byrne and David Sinclair while committed to the goal of preserving and respecting the environmental sustainability, the heritage value of the site and the natural beauty of the surroundings.
