About Chalet da Condessa D’Edla
In the second half of the 19th century, King Consort D. Fernando II and his future second wife Elise Hensler, the Countess of Edla, ordered the construction of a private chalet and garden in Pena Park for their own personal recreation.
Built in the alpine style, this chalet is notable for its painted murals, stucco materials, painted azulejo tiles and extensive use of cork decoration.
